Liposuction

For most people, fat accumulates in problem areas of the body: on the waist, abdomen, thighs, buttocks, upper arms, cheeks, chin. Even people who exercise and eat healthy cannot remove these fat deposits. In such cases, liposuction can help to improve body shape and regain self-confidence. Liposuction is special in that the fat cells do not grow back in the areas from which the fat is removed - if the patient gains weight, the new fat would be evenly distributed throughout the body.

Who can liposuction be performed on?

In case of excess fat

Liposuction can be performed in case of body asymmetry, with excess fat in the abdomen, buttocks, chest, chin, inner and outer thighs, upper arms, knees. For a long time, liposuction surgery was popular only among women, but today it is often needed by men as well. In men, liposuction is usually performed in the case of gynecomastia - after removal of fatty tissue in the chest area.

At the right BMI

In order to ensure the safety and efficiency of the operation, liposuction is performed on people with a BMI below 27. When the BMI is higher than the specified norm, even after removing the maximum amount of adipose tissue (4-5 liters), the desired effect will not be achieved. In addition, when a larger amount of fat is suctioned, the risks of surgery also increase. It is important to understand that liposuction is not performed to reduce weight, but to improve body lines.

How to prepare for liposuction?

Even before the operation, the problem areas of the body, the medications used by the patient, existing diseases and allergies are discussed with the plastic surgeon, as well as the scope and risks of the operation are introduced to the patient. In some cases, it may be recommended to lose some weight before surgery.

How is liposuction surgery performed?

Liposuction surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia, except for liposuction of small areas, for which local anesthesia is sufficient. The operation takes 1-3 hours.

Operation progress

Surgical incisions are made in inconspicuous areas of the body, such as skin folds or where underwear covers. Lipoplasty is performed in our clinic using the innovative Euromi Lipomatic machine. Excess adipose tissue is removed with a special cannula that gently separates the adipose tissue from the connective tissue by vibrating.

Other plastic surgeries

If the fat deposits are extremely large, liposuction can be performed in several stages, and liposuction is combined with other plastic surgeries, such as abdominoplasty or fat transplantation.

Postoperative care

Healing and scars

In the places where fat is removed, subcutaneous bruising and swelling may occur, which disappear within 1-2 weeks. Since the incisions are made in inconspicuous areas and are small, postoperative scarring is minimal.

Physical activity and bad habits

At least 2 weeks after surgery, it is recommended to avoid active physical activity, sports, lifting heavy objects (over 5 kg) and sports, to give up bad habits.

Special care

After surgery, you will need to wear a special compression garment for 6-8 weeks (sometimes less, depending on the area from which the fat was removed) to prevent fluid build-up and help the skin shrink faster. After the operation, to achieve the best result, a course of lymphatic drainage massage is recommended.
