How is lip augmentation surgery performed?

-The first step is liposuction

If lip augmentation is performed together with liposuction surgery, the procedure is performed under general or regional anesthesia. Small incisions, approximately 0.5 cm long, are made in the area where liposuction will be performed. Most often, fat for transplantation is taken from problem areas where fat usually accumulates: the waist, thighs or abdomen. If the operation is performed later, after the liposuction operation, local anesthesia of the lips with special creams is usually performed.

-The second step is fat injection
A 5-8ºC saline solution is injected through the incision to reduce bleeding and break up fat cells. Later, a metal cannula is inserted, with which fat (100-200 ml) is sucked out, which is specially prepared and injected into the lips.

-The third step is gaining fat
A little more fat is always injected, since only about 40% of it is recovered. Some of the transplanted cells are accepted by the body as its own fat tissue, and the fat cells that have not attached are broken down, carried out and removed from the body.

Postoperative period and healing
