Who can have a brow lift?

A brow lift is usually performed when the first signs of aging appear. Also, eyebrow drooping can occur regardless of a person's age, because the facial features and skin properties of different patients are different. Patients with very low foreheads often choose eyebrow lift surgery - after the surgery, the hair growth line rises by about 1 cm.

How to prepare for plastic surgery of eyebrow lift?

It is very important that the patient is in good physical health, does not have heart or vascular diseases, or is overweight. Before the operation, it is recommended to give up bad habits, because alcohol and tobacco can affect healing. Please note that the cold season of the year is particularly suitable for eyebrow lift operations, as direct sunlight is avoided during the postoperative period.

How is brow and forehead lift surgery performed?

Brow lift surgery can be performed as a stand-alone operation or combined with facelift, upper and/or lower eyelid plastic surgery. The operation is performed under general anesthesia in a conventional way or endoscopically.

Eyebrow lift

A surgically performed eyebrow lift operation usually takes 1-1.5 hours. The incisions are made at the hairline, the forehead tissues are separated up to the arch of the eyebrows. Superficial and deep fascia are sutured in the area of ​​the skin incision, raising the lateral corners of the eyebrows about 1 cm up. The incisions are sutured with dissolvable or non-dissolvable suture.

Eyebrow lift and eyelid plastic surgery

When operating the upper eyelids at the same time, the skin is cut along the fold of the eyelid, and after making a second parallel cut a little higher, the excess skin is removed. If necessary, fatty hernias are also removed. Removal of excess skin or fat bags from the eyelids usually takes about an hour.

Endoscopic eyebrow lift and eyelid plastic surgery

When the operation is performed endoscopically, an optical device - an endoscope - is used to help. Under the control of the endoscope, with the help of special instruments, the forehead tissues are separated, the eyebrows are pulled up and fixed with stitches, which are removed after 10-12 days. Since the incisions are only a few millimeters and the tissue damage is minimal, scars are avoided and wounds heal faster.

Postoperative period and healing

Special care

Immediately after the operation, the face swells and bruises appear. In the first 2 days after the operation, the swelling of the face is the greatest, so it is very important to regularly cool it with compresses. On the 3rd-4th day, the swelling starts to subside a little. Up to half a year or longer, you may feel numbness of the forehead.

Healing and scarring

After the operation, to achieve the best result, an individual course of lymphatic drainage massage is recommended. The final result of the operation is visible after 4-6 months, after the swelling has completely subsided and the scars have matured. If you choose endoscopic surgery, the endoscopy technique used during it allows you to operate with minimal tissue damage, so the scars remain small.

Additional operations

At the same time, lid plastic surgery may be performed, due to swelling it may be difficult to close your eyes, and dry eyes may be bothersome. These unpleasant sensations are solved with the help of artificial tears. Also, due to the performed operation, the vision may be slightly weakened for the first few days. Hemorrhages usually disappear within a few weeks, but swelling may last a little longer. After two weeks, the scars fade and become hard to see.
