There are many reasons why scars or adhesions can appear in the nasal mucosa . This can be caused by various injuries to the nose, past surgical procedures or inflammatory processes. The nasal mucosa is very sensitive, so it is negatively affected by various physical factors, inhalation of various chemicals, volatile or toxic substances (these can be paints, varnishes, bleaches, illegal sniffing agents or cigarette smoke), frequent use of various medicated nasal sprays. All these factors over time can damage the nasal mucosa and cause scarring. Adhesions or scars that appear usually cause nasal obstruction and difficulty breathing, and may also impair the sense of smell. Formed adhesions or scars can be removed surgically.

How is the operation performed?

The operation is performed under general anesthesia. During the operation, the adhesions in the nasal mucosa are broken up with special instruments, and the scars are removed.

The nasal passages are then swabbed with special swabs, and they are usually removed after two days.

What is important to pay attention to after surgery?

Physical activity should be avoided for 2 weeks after surgery.

For 2 weeks after surgery, it is recommended to wash the nose with sea water and use oil drops.
