Hemorrhoid surgery

Hemorrhoids are dilation and protrusion of blood vessels in the anus. This disease is caused by changes in the anatomy and blood vessels of the anus. Hemorrhoids are caused by chronic constipation, diarrhea, long bowel movements, sedentary work and low physical activity, bad habits such as smoking and alcohol. Also, hemorrhoids often appear during pregnancy and childbirth.

Hemorrhoids are internal and external. Most often, both of them increase. Initially, the nodules appear inside the outlet channel, but later they may fall out.

Surgery to remove hemorrhoids, or hemorrhoidectomy, is performed when conservative treatment is ineffective.

How is the operation performed?

Hemorrhoidectomy is usually performed under spinal anesthesia. The operation lasts from 30 minutes to 1 hour.

The specific method of operation is selected individually. During the operation, the anal canal is expanded and the changed hemorrhoidal nodes are removed with a special instrument.

What do you need to know after surgery?

• Constipation should be avoided, laxatives are recommended if necessary.
• Until the wounds are completely healed, special antiseptic ointments or antiseptic baths should be used after each defecation.
