Treatment of dental canals

Root canal treatment is performed when microorganisms accumulate in the root canal system and infection or inflammation occurs. The goal of treatment is to destroy the microorganisms that caused the inflammation in the root canal system and protect the tooth and surrounding tissues from infection.

Inflammation or infection occurs for various reasons: due to untreated tooth decay, cracks in the surfaces of teeth and dental fillings, after tooth trauma.

It is recommended to consult an endodontist, who specializes in the treatment of dental canals, if:

Prolonged tooth sensitivity when eating/drinking cold, hot, sweet, sour food;

Tooth sensitivity when chewing or touching the tooth;

A fistula appeared on the gums;

Swelling in the face;

Tooth discoloration (darkening);

Sometimes the symptoms may not appear, so it is necessary to regularly visit the dentist for a preventive examination.

If you do not consult an endodontist in time and do not treat the canals, the inflammation can spread and damage other teeth and gums and develop into other, even more serious, diseases of the teeth and gums.
