A sinus lift is a surgical operation in which the bone of the teeth is transplanted. This operation is usually performed on patients who need dental implants, but there is not enough bone tissue in the area of ​​the upper molars and premolars to allow dental implants to be placed. If the height of the bone is no longer sufficient, a sinus floor lift procedure is performed. Most of the time, bone loss begins when there is no tooth or its root left in the jaw, that is, after losing a tooth, there is a delay in contacting a specialist for tooth implantation.

Postoperative period and healing

After the operation and the next day, the nose may bleed and pain may occur when touching the operated area. The pain usually starts to subside after about 3-4 days.

On the 2nd-4th postoperative day, bruises may appear on the skin, which usually disappear on their own without any additional treatment.

Swelling of the operated area and surrounding tissues increases about 2-4 days after the operation, after which it starts to decrease until it finally disappears.

After the operation, the edges of the gums are closed with sutures, which are removed after 10-14 days.

After surgery, it is recommended to avoid heavy physical exertion, hot baths and saunas for 7-10 days.

Smoking is prohibited for at least 2 weeks, as smoking disrupts blood circulation, complicates wound healing and increases the likelihood of infection entering the operated area.

7-10 days after the operation it is forbidden to wear temporary prostheses, blow your nose, dive, fly by plane. You can only sneeze with your mouth open, you need to sleep on your healthy side.
